COMILLA: Comilla Medical College (CMC) suspended 26 students and warned 18 others Wednesday (February 28) following a factional clash of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the campus.

Of the students, three were suspended for three years while nine for two years and fourteen others for one year each.

College sources said that thirteen students were injured as the followers of CMC BCL unit former presidents Abdul Hannan and Habibur Rahman Palash engaged in a clash at Sheikh Russell hostel following a dispute over establishing supremacy, on the night of January 4. The hostel rooms were vandalized too.

Afterwards, a probe committee was formed over the incident.

CMC Principal Dr Md Mohsin-Uj Jaman Chowdhury said that steps have been taken against the students who were involved in the clash, as per the probe committee report.

However, the students have been asked to leave the hostels. Besides, all types of political activities have been banned at the campus.
