DHAKA: Police swoop in as hundreds of students took street in Dhaka Wednesday (March 14) demanding reformation of quota system in government jobs.
Police and the protesters chased each others at the High Court intersection while the latter were heading for submitting a memorandum to the ministry public administration, to place their demand at around 12:00pm.
Police hurled tear cells on the gathering to disperse the protesters and detained three of them.
Afterwards, the protesting students blocked a road at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU) campus. They chanted slogans denouncing the police action and demanding quota system reformation.
Later, the protesters removed the blockade and announced candlelight program on March 18 to press home their demand.
