DHAKA: Teacher of private educational institutions will come under “Monthly Payment Order (MPO), though the issue is absent in the proposed budget for 2018-19 fiscal year.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday (June 11) also said, “There is no need to demonstrate in this regard.”
The Minister came up with this assurance in a function held for the transfer of two cars to Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust on behalf FBCCI at the ministry.
“Their demand is under review. We said earlier, they will come under MPO. We can manage it from the allocation of Education Ministry’s fund, albeit there is no allocation for it in budget. So there is no need to go for demonstration,” he said.
Teachers and staff of educational institutions under non-MPO have long been staging demonstrations to come under MPO. Private teachers alleged that there is no allocation for them in the budget for fiscal 2018-19, even though they were given assurance to be included into MPO.
Therefore, they held demonstration in front of Press Club on Sunday (June 10). Later, police pushed them away.
