With an aim to enhance the creativity of students, East West University Business Club (EWUBC) recently organized an intra university business strategy competition titled 'Brand Aid 2018'.
The competition was a unique initiative designed to teach students to recuperate brand from catastrophes with their innovative ideas.
About 68 teams comprising more than 200 members registered for the competition.
The competition started off with an inauguration ceremony and workshop on the 25th June, 2018. Jawaad Bin Hamid, group organizational development manager of RANCON was the keynote speaker of the workshop.
In the workshop, the participants learned how to solve business problems by hearing the experience of the keynote speaker. The competition began after the inauguration ceremony and the workshop.
The teams were initially screened out by an online screening round. Where the teams had to solve and submit their solution online within a certain time. 24 teams qualified for the first round which was the on spot case solving round. Where they needed to give a solution of the case within the time settled for them and present their ideas in front of proficient judging panels consisting corporates around the country.
Of the 24 teams, 12 teams moved forward to the semifinal round. The semifinal round was also an on-spot case solving round. The selected 12 teams were given a case based on a prototype. In semifinal round, the participants had to solve a case on the deficiency of the given prototype. They had to come up with a solution with authentic arguments within the given time. After the compilation of the semifinal round, the top six teams were selected for the final.
The top 6 teams presented their ideas in the open presentation round in front of the judges on 16th July, 2018. Later that day, the results were disclosed and achievement of the winners was celebrated in the gala & award ceremony held in the EWU premises.
The chief guest of the program was Professor Dr Fakrul Alam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU. Prof Dr Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, faculty of business and economics dean, was the special guest of the program. The guests announced the winners’ names and handed over the trophies.
Team ‘Basitos’ became the champion of Brand Aid 2018. Teams ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Blancos’ were consecutively the runners up and 2nd runners up.
The other three finalist teams were ‘Terminal Velocity’, ‘Brainiacs’ and ‘Ambitious’. The winners and the finalists were awarded certificates by the guests and judges.

The initiative was highly appreciated to build up the creativity of the EWU future leaders.
However, EWUBC is said to be the first club of the university with the goal to promote leadership and entrepreneurship of ingenious students. The Club works with all phases of business to demonstrate and practice the professional leadership as well as management skills.
‘Brand Aid’ is something being used in everyday life to cover the cuts and bruise. Sometimes the business and brands face crisis. The aid from the solution is not an easy task to accomplish. After graduation, students face such critical situations.
