JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) handed over two students of Jagannath University (JnU) to police, on charge of forgery in JU admission test for the session 2018-19.

The duo were handed over to Ashulia thana police, around 10pm Monday (Oct 8).

The two JnU students are—Ashiq-E-Atahar Mejbah, a student of 11th batch at political science department and Shakib-ul-Sadat, a student of 13th batch at chemistry department.

Efforts are underway to file case against the duo, said JU chief security officer Sudeepto Shaheen. 

Sources said Ashiq and Shakib offered an applicant question papers of C-unit, at a cost of Tk 4,20,000.

The duo were nabbed from the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall area of JU campus.  

“The crime they have committed results in minimum three years of punishment. But the mobile court may hand over maximum two years of imprisonment,” JU Proctor Md Zulkernine told Banglanews.

“Therefore, the court has suggested to file a case for ensuring thorough investigation and proper punishment. Therefore, we have handed over (them) to police,” he added.
