DHAKA: The three-day Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF), previously known as Hay Festival Dhaka, has begun at the Bangla Academy on Thursday (November 8).
The 8th edition of DLF, the biggest literary festival in Bangladesh, kicked off at Abdul Karim Shaihittya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy in the morning.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor formally inaugurated the festivity accompanied by actress and director Nandita Das and Pulitzer Prize winner author Adam Johnson.
Three directors of DLF Ahsan Akbar, Sadaf Saaz and Kazi Anis Ahmed delivered their introductory speeches.
Sadaf Saaz said, “The main thing we are observing of this festival is the participation of young people. Among the participants, 8o percents of them are below age 25. This is very good news to us.”
Famous novelists, writers, journalists and noted personalities from 25 countries of the world grace Bangla Academy premises from 9-7:30 pm from November 8-10.
DLF began its journey in 2011.
DLF is being produced by Jatrik, with Bangla Academy as co-host and the cultural affairs ministry as special partner.
