JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: A rally was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday (Feb 24) with a promise to make the campus free from ragging.

The rally, led by JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farza Islam, started from the Central Shaheed Minar of the campus and ended at Mukta Mancha.

State Minister for Relief and Disaster Management Dr Md Enamur Rahman, JU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof Nurul Alam, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Md Amir Hossain, Treasurer Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, deans, registrars, proctors and around 2,000 students and teachers participated in the rally.

State Minister Dr Md Enamur Rahman urged students to stop the practice of ragging terming it a ‘heinous crime’.

Mentioning various preceding steps against ragging, VC Prof Farzana Islam warned tougher punishment and expulsion from the varsity if anyone rags.
