Jhenidah Veterinary College closed sine die

JHENIDAH: Jhenidah Government Veterinary College has been closed sine die following protest of students demanding to enlist their college as a faculty under Jashore Science and Technology University.

The college authorities have asked the students to vacate all the five residential halls by 11:00am Friday (March 1).

The students of the college have been staging agitation programme since February 25 to realize their demand.

College authorities said livestock department assured the agitating students of meeting up their demand but yet to take any measures. So, angry students halted the administrative activities of the college, by locking its main gate and the offices.

Dr Amolendu Ghosh, principal of the college, said demonstrating students locked the main gate of the college and its offices, halting the academic and administrative activates.

So, as per decision taken at a meeting of teachers’ association, the college was declared closed for an indefinite period.  Students have already left the halls.
