DHAKA: Back in 2012, a free-of-cost school named “Friendship School” began its journey in Tangail, vowing to enlighten underprivileged children of the society in light of education.
The school then had some 29 underprivileged poor children and 3 teachers.
Gradually, the school has grown up as over 500 children are attending classes in 4 branches of the school at present.
The campuses of Friendship School are located at Elasin area of Tangail sadar and Adi Tangail (morning and evening shifts).
Md Juwel Ahmed, a young journalist and presenter in profession, founded the school with a noble vision of ensuring education among underprivileged children of the locality.
He always dreamed of doing something-- for the neglected and underprivileged children, and the people of the society.
He himself, with help from a few well-wishers, bears all the expenses for operating the school including the teachers’ salary.
Someday Friendship School will expand throughout Bangladesh and no child will be left illiterate, hopes Juwel.
The young journalist, with some of his associates, also established an education and charity organization named “Humanity for Peoples” vowing to take the program into organizational shape.
