DHAKA: Teachers observed a sit-in demanding nationalization of 1519 madrasa board-registered independent Ibtedai madrasas like primary schools.
Bangladesh Independent Ibtedai Madrassa Teachers' Association has been observing a sit-in since Saturday morning (March 30) at the Jatiya Press Club.
Salary of the registered private primary and Independent Ibtadei Madrasah teachers was fixed Taka 500 in the same pamphlet since 1994, president of the organization Mawlana Kazi Fayejur Rahman said.
Mawlana Kazi Fayejur Rahman said, “Like primary school teachers, madrasa teachers have been providing the service from 9 am to 4 pm each day. However, primary school teachers are being paid Taka 22000-30000. On the other hand, Ibtadei Madrasah teachers get almost no salary at all. This has been going on for a long time.”
The organization's secretary general Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman said we demand nationalization of registered independent Ibtedai madrasas to ease misery of teachers by means of upgrading education system.
“Otherwise, our sit-in will continue,” secretary general also said.
