DHAKA UNIVERSITY (DU): The fire erupted at the central library of Dhaka University (DU) Sunday (July 7) was taken under control following frantic efforts of the firefighters.

The library will remain closed to ensure overall safety, until further notice, DU Librarian (Acting) Prof Dr SM Jabed Ahmed told students on the campus around 11am.

The fire originated from electric cable at the library's Rare section, after 10:30am, engulfing the area with huge smoke.

Students, who were inside, managed to come out safely.
