DHAKA: The education ministry ordered all the educational institutes across the country to keep offices open in 10 days out of 12 days' eid holidays, as part of dengue prevention steps.
The offices will remain closed only on August 12 and 13 during Eid-ul-Azha.
The decision was confirmed on Wednesday (August 7) in a notice signed by Secondary and Higher Education Division Senior Secretary Mohammad Sohrab Hossain.
Educational institutes have been asked to form safety team of 6-10 members (staff, student, BNCC, scout and students) headed by a teacher to check on holidays water stagnancy on flowerpots, water tap areas, playground, refrigerator, bathroom and other possible places of campus, to prevent breeding of aedes mosquitoes.
Academic activities will remain closed for Eid holidays for 12 days, from August 8 to August 19.
However, educational institutes are carrying out overall efforts to prevent dengue, said the notice.
