DHAKA: Ekushey Padak-winning novelist Rizia Rahman has died in a city hospital on Friday (August 16). She was 80.
The eminent author who was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Apollo Hospital breathed her last here around 10.45 am.
She was hospitalised on Tuesday after falling ill due to complications of cancer and kidney ailments.
Rizia Rahman has a number of novels and short stories to her credit. Her works cut across all genres. She is best known for the novel Bong Theke Bangla.
She received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1978 and was awarded Ekushey Padak this year.
