CHATTOGRAM: Chhatra League, ruling party’s student front, at Chittagong University held the locomaster of the train captive and cut off the hosepipe of train, halting shuttle train service for students since Sunday (September 1) morning.
Earlier on Saturday, leaders of the Bijoy Group called for an indefinite blockade this morning over their demand following clash with CFC groups on the campus on Saturday (August 31) night.
A tense situation was prevailing on the campus. The shuttle train service remained on halt till for hours.
Khorshed Alam, the locomaster of the shuttle train was also held captive and cut off hosepipes by the BCL activists and later released him, said officer-in-charge of Chattogram Railway Police Station Mustafiz Bhuiyan.
Eastern Railway Divisional Manager Borhan Uddin said those hosepipes have been renovated later.
Meanwhile, all buses for the teachers and staff of the university in the morning stopped as strikers used super glue on the lock of those.
