DHAKA: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has obstructed the program of a group of students on their way to besiege to the dean office of the Business Faculty of the varsity on Wednesday (September 18), protesting enrollment of BCL men in different courses without any admission test.
During the time, the two groups locked into a scuffle that triggered a clash. Later, the teachers came and calm the situation.
The incident took place around 12:45pm when the students under the banner of “students against corruption and forgery” were heading towards to the dean office, to protest the “illegal enrolment” of BCL leaders into a department of the Faculty of Business Studies without entry test.
During the scuffle, Asif, a second-year student of Language Sciences, suffered injuries below his left eye.
Facing obstruction, demonstrating students brought out procession towards DU proctor office and Chhatra League men took position in front of the Business faculty.
Farooq Hassan, joint convener of the Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, told Banglanews, “The Chhatra League men have attacked our program as usual. We will announce the program at a press conference later.”
Some BCL leaders allegedly got admission into Master of Accountancy in Taxation, a two-year evening masters course under the faculty.
