Microsoft, edu ministry sign MoU

DHAKA: Education Ministry has extended the duration of treatise signed between Microsoft and Bangladesh Education Ministry.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the third phase was signed in this regard at the conference room of education ministry of the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

Country Manager of Microsoft, Bangladesh Pubudu Basnayake and additional secretary (administration and finance) of education ministry SM Golam Faruk signed the MoU on behalf of respective parties.

This will help to increase the digitalization of schools and enhance the efficiency of teachers under the programme Partners in Learning (PIT) of Microsoft.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Secretary Abdul Naser Chowdhury, general manager of Asia-Pacific, Microsoft Jamie Harper and education programme manager of Microsoft Bangladesh Sarana Islam also were present in the programme.

A MoU was signed in 2005 as first phase and in 2009 as second phase when around 13000 teachers from government and non-government schools were trained in the country and in abroad.

The duration of the second phase was ended on June 30, 2013. The duration of third phase will be ended in June 2018.
