2,661,682 students to appear for JSC, JDC exams

DHAKA: Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations-2019 will begin across the country on November 2 with the participation of 2,661,682 students.

“As many as 2,661,682 students from 29,662 educational institutions will appear in this year’s examinations. Of them, 1,221,695 are male and 1,439,987 are female” Education Minister Dipu Moni told a press briefing in the conference room of the ministry Tuesday (Oct 29).

“The number of JSC examinees is 22, 60,716 while 4,00,966 examinees will participate in the JDC examination this year,” she added.

Of JSC examinees, 1,042,907 are male and 12, 17,809 are female while 78,788 are male and 2,00,178 are female in JDC examinees.

A total of 554 students from nine overseas centres will appear in the JSC examinations, she continued. The overseas centres are Jeddah, Riyadh, Medina, Tripoli, Doha, Saham, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The JSC and JDC examinations will start from November 2 and end on November 15, according to the examination schedule.

The government has introduced JSC and JDC examination system for improving quality of education. After getting certificates of JSC and JDC examinations, students will be more encouraged to continue their studies, he added.

Ahead of the JSC and JDC exams, the Education Ministry has decided to close all coaching centers in the country from October 25 to November 15. The Education Minister has asked everyone to be vigilant so as not to make any fraudulent information and false question papers using social media in order to complete the examination in the environment free of question paper leakage.

As many as 26,70,333 students from 29,677 educational institutions appeared in JSC and JDC examinations in 2018 while  14,92,802 students appeared in 2010, 18,61,113 examinees in 2011, 19,08,365 in 2012, 19,02,746 candidates in 2013, 20,90,692 in 2014 and 23,25,933 examinees in 2015.
