DHAKA: Mentoring Program for Bangladeshi newcomer students was held at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in Magdeburg of Germany.
The program was organized on October 17 with the initiative of Bangladeshi students studying at the university.
The event, sponsored jointly by the university's international office and German insurance company AOK, started with the national anthem of Bangladesh.
Topics have been discussed in the program include…… life in Magdeburg, all aspects of the study, part-time job opportunities, teaching Assistantship /Research Assistantship, internship and full-time job
Presentation from KH Saidul Islam (Shawon) about “Life in Magdeburg” covers the topics of Accommodation, Health insurance, Medical-related info, and German language course info. Question answering session was lead by Johurul Islam.
There was an extensive overview of part-time job availability by Mukesh Ghosh (Tusher) in Magdeburg, needed requirements. The question answering session was lead by Rifatul Bari Abir.
Industry mentor Abdullah Al Safi (Machine Learning Engineer, Motor AI UG, Berlin) presented his experience of getting an internship and a full-time job. He also discussed the topic of the cover letter, CV, LinkedIn profile, job portals, the importance of GitHub, Gitlab profile. Question answering session was lead by Industry mentor Sayed Anisul Hoque (Bigdata Developer and DevOps, Ultra Tendency GmbH). He discussed IT job, Big Data and data science job scopes in Germany.
Industry Mentor, Mohammad Nurul Amin (Jr. Technical Manager Programmatic Advertising, SMARTSTREAM.TV GmbH, Munich) discussed job opportunities for business background students in Germany. He shared his experience of Internship and a full-time job. He also discussed administrative challenges faced for job location change, programmatic advertising strategies (AdTech Industry).
Teaching assistantship, research assistantship, and scholarship related topics were presented by S M Andalib Hossain (Convener of the mentoring program and teaching assistant of Faculty of Computer Science).
Introducing student mentors of different courses followed by extensive group discussion covering all aspects of the study. A course based survey was done by all the senior students.
In the light of the experience of the course-based mentors, there was an overall group-based discussion on the subject of study, test methodology, project, thesis, etc. in Germany.
Eva Böhning, Student Counselor at the University's International Office, assured that such an initiative would always be on the side.
