DHAKA: Prof. Dr Shirin Akhtar, newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University, said that besides improving the quality of education of the university, the accommodation crisis of teachers and students will be resolved.
    
The first female VC of the university made the remark while talking to Banglanews on Monday (Nov 4).

Dr. Shirin Akhtar said, “I am very thankful to honorable President and Prime Minister and Ministry of Education, for keeping their confidence on me. I will repay their confidence. I will take level best efforts to improve the quality of education of the University. I will work with everyone to maintain environment of education and reduce the session jam”.

She said accommodation crisis is one of the main problems of the university. I will work to solve the accommodation crisis of teachers and students so that the teachers, who are in university administration, can perform their duties living in campus. Everything that needs to be done to eliminate the accommodation crisis will be taken.

Dr Shirin said the tasks will be finalized within a few days through holding meetings with the academic and hall administration. Particularly, the issues of the students’ interest will be addressed on priority basis. However, I need cooperation of everyone.

On Sunday (November 3), Prof. Dr. Shirin Akhtar has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University (CU). She has been serving as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university since June. It was for the first time that a female vice-chancellor was appointed in the varsity.
