DHAKA: Authorities closed down Jahangirnagar University for indefinite period in wake of student protests, demanding resignation of its vice chancellor professor Farzana Islam over allegation of corruption.
Students have been instructed to leave the dormitories of the varsity by 4:30 pm on Tuesday (Nov 5).
University registrar Rahima Kaniz confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
The authorities decided to declare the university closed indefinitely in an emergency syndicate meeting amid the protest.
Earlier in the day, at least 35 teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University were injured as some miscreants attacked the protesting students and teachers.
They had confined the VC to her residence since 7:00pm Monday (Nov 4) demanding her resignation over corruption allegation.
