DHAKA: Dhaka University (DU), the oldest university of Bangladesh, has begun its 52nd convocation with the participation of 20,796 graduates at its campus in the capital on Monday (Dec 09).
The university’s Chancellor President Abdul Hamid is presiding over the grand event at the university’s central playground while National Professor Anisuzzaman will attend as the convocation speaker.
The convocation began at 11:55 am as the graduates entered the venue to collect their certificates after the convocation ceremony.
Nobel laureate in physics Prof Dr Takaaki Kajita, also director of the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research of Tokyo University in Japan, has joined as the convocation speaker.
Dhaka University will confer honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Dr Takaaki Kajita at the convocation ceremony.
