DHAKA: A two-day international conference on Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0 (STI 2019) has begun Green University of Bangladesh (GUB).
The conference began at the permanent campus of GUB at Rupganj area of Purbachal American City in the capital on Tuesday (24 December).
GUB’s Faculty of Science and Engineering organized the international conference with a view to get ready for facing challenges of fourth industrial revolution.
University Grants Commission (UGC) member Prof Dr Md Sazzad Hossain inaugurated the programme as the chief guest while GUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Pro-VC Prof Dr. Md Abdur Razzaque were present as patron and general chair of the conference respectively.
In inaugural session speakers said that the aim of the conference is discussion over the research findings and share regarding the designs, issues of implementation, and challenges of technologies those will be in work as driving forces in the fourth industrial revolution.
They discussed on the strategies to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution and make bridge between the industry and academia.
The productivity and quality will be increased in all manufacturing industries rapidly if we can adopt the latest technology as soon as possible, they said.
Prof Dr. Md Abdur Razzaque, General Chair of the Conference said that, due to installation of updated technology, the countries can give supply of orders within seven days where Bangladesh cannot give the supply of the same order even within one month.
He said: “We are getting the highest remittance from the RMG sector but it is now a matter of concern to lose the remittance if we fail to plan and implement installation of automation system.”
“It is high time to install real time monitoring, control and automation system in our RMG industries to face the global challenges,” he said adding that “We will discuss over the challenges and issues of the industries at the conference in two days.”
The keynote speakers of the conference are- Prof Dr Muhammad H Rashid, IEEE Fellow,Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of West Florida in USA, Sajal K Das, Prof and Daniel St Clair Endowed Chair, Department of Computer Science at Missouri University of Science and Technology in USA, Deng Zhongmin, Prof and Vice-director of Hubei Modern Textile Engineering Research Center, Alamgir Hossain, Prof of Artificial Intelligence, Senior Academic, Healthcare Innovation Centre, SCDT Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, Fahim Kawsar, Director of Bell Laboratories, Oksam Chae, Prof of Computer Vision, Kyunghee University in South Korea, Rahamatullah Khondoker, Prof of Applied Sciences at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Dr Md Atiqur Rahman Ahad of Osaka University in Japan, and Dr Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE BDS.
There are different tasks included in the mega conference—Intelligent Computing, Network and Security Systems, Electronics, Power and Communication Systems and Textile Engineering.
A total of 207 papers were submitted by the students and teachers of EEE, Computer science and engineering and Textile Engineering departments of different universities to present at the conference.
Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IEEE Explore Digital Library (only track one and two). Three papers are selected for the “Best Paper” award.
The first prize winner will receive Dhaka -Singapore -Dhaka air ticket. The second prize winner will receive Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka air ticket and the third prize winner will receive Dhaka- Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka air ticket on behalf of US-Bangla Airlines.
There will be a best paper award selected by the IEEE Bangladesh section. There will be also a “Best Poster” award for poster presentation. In addition to that, Prof Dr Muhammad Harunur Rashid of Florida Polytechnique University, USA will give three best paper awards to prospective authors.
