DHAKA: Education minister Dr Dipu Moni on Sunday (March 15) said educational institutions will be shut down if the coronavirus affects the local people.

She said the situation over the coronavirus outbreak in the country has not deteriorated to a great extent.

The minister was talking to reporters after distributing prizes among the winners of National School Hockey Tournament at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in the capital.

Dr Dipu Moni said: “Till now, local people have not been infected with coronavirus in the country. Therefore, situation like shutting the educational institutions has not been created yet. We will take the decision on this if the coronavirus affects the local people.”

Meanwhile, the education ministry has not yet taken any decision to shut educational institutions due to global outbreak of coronavirus.
