The final decision on resumption of academic institutions of the country will be announced after August 25.

Secretary to Secondary and Higher Education Division under Ministry of Education Md Mahbub Hossain said it in Secretariat on Monday in response to a journalist’s question.

“No decision on reopening academic institutions has been made yet. We will inform all in this regard after August 25,” he said.

Moreover, decision on holding the HSC examination will also be announced by authorities concerned in due time, he said.

The secretary also urged all to refrain from making any comments or spreading rumors before the exam date is officially announced by the government.

“The education minister clearly said that notice will be issued two weeks before examination takes place,” he added.

On March 16, the government closed all educational institutions to prevent the spread of coronavirus. No classes have been held since that day.

The country on Monday (Aug 17) confirmed 37 more deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 3,694.
 
According to the Health authorities, 2,595 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 2,79,144.
 
As 1,641 patients recovered in last 24 hours, the number of total recovery reached 1,60,591.
