The ongoing closure of educational institutions across the country has been extended till January 16 due to the lingering coronavirus pandemic and a possible second wave of infection during the winter.
M A Khayer, public relations officer of Education Ministry, confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Friday.
Earlier on March 16, the Ministry of Education issued a press release regarding the government decision of closing all educational institutions and coaching centres from March 18 to 31 in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.
Later that closure was extended till December 19 in several phases. No classes have been held since that day.
Moreover, final examinations for primary and secondary level students were cancelled, as well as the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations.
However, public universities of the country will be able to take their honours and masters' final year examinations by maintain health protocols and keeping the residential halls closed.
