More than 200 unidentified students Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have been sued over attempt to snatch firearms from law enforces during the clash on Sunday.
Sub-inspector Md Abdul Hannan of the Jalalabad Police Station filed the case accusing students of hurling brickbats and crude bombs as well as opening fire on police personnel.
Jalalabad police inspector (investigation) Abu Khaled Mamun said, "We have accepted the case. Jalalabad police SI Asaduzzaman has been assigned to investigate the incident. 200 to 300 unnamed students have been accused in this. However, no one will be arrested in this case."
According to the case statement, during the protest for the three-point demand, students confined the university's vice-chancellor and obstructed the police from performing its duties.
To keep the situation under control, law enforced fired at least 31 rounds of rubber bullets and lobbed 21 sound grenades, it said.
