Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Tuesday (Aug 23) said there will be no harm to the study of students if educational institutions are closed for two days a week.
She said: "Two-day holiday in a week would not hamper the study of students, rather, they can get energy for study after getting two-day holiday in a week."
Dipu Moni came up with the remarks after placing a wreath at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara, Gopalganj.
"Electricity and energy crisis across the globe is going on...That is why we have taken this initiative so that we can save energy," the minister added.
Earlier, she paid homage to Bangabandhu on behalf of National University.
Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Moshiur Rahman, and Gopalganj District Administrator Shahida Sultana, among others, were present.
