DHAKA: On the occasion of the 82nd birth anniversary of country’s one of the eminent artists, Aminul Islam, an award giving programme and an art exhibition will be held at Bengal Shilpalaya in city’s Dhanmondi area.
The programme will begin at 6:00pm on November 7.
The award, introduced by the deceased artist’s family, will be handed over to two young artists and an inauguration of the 12-day exhibition with the selected artworks by 10 contestants will be held on the day.
Noted artist Murtaja Baseer will hand over the awards to the winners as chief guest while artists Syed jahangir, Rafiqun Nabi and Ruby Islam will be present as special guests.
Bengal Foundation chairman Abul Khair will preside over the ceremony.
Inauguration of the exhibition with 32 artworks by the contestants will follow the award giving programme.
The exhibition will remain open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm till November 18.
Born in 1931, Aminul Islam is honoured as one of the first generation artists and a leading member of the modern art movement in Bangladesh. He died in 2011.
