DHAKA: Sujit Mustafa’s music evening will be held at Gulshan’s Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre.
The soiree to jointly be organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh, will begin at 6:30pm on December 6.
Sujit Mustafa is the son of late Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, a renowned poet, singer and composer.
Born in Pabna, Sujit has received training in classical music from well-known gurus such as Pandit Vinod Kumar at the Gandharva Mahavidiyaloya and Pandit Amarnath of Indore Gharana at the Shriram Bharatia Kala Kendra in New Delhi.
He had also completed a five year certificate course in classical music from Chhayanaut, and had a diploma from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Sujit has presented songs in the genres of classical, semi classical, Nazrul Sangeet and modern Bangla songs in several programmes both at home and abroad.
According to the organisers, he performed at the concert at Delhi Siriford Auditorium in 1990 on the occasion of Pandit Ravi Shankar’s 70th birthday celebrations.
Sujit has released several albums such as ‘Amar Ganer Prothom Choronkhani’, ‘Onek Brishti Jhore’, and ‘Dure Bohudure’.
The singer is also the editor of a monthly magazine on Bangladesh’s national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Sujit’s upcoming soiree will be open to all and the audience are requested not to bring bags at the venue.
