A Dhaka court today (July 5) framed charges against film producer Rahmat Ullah in a case lodged for alleged attempt to extort money from actor Shakib Khan and making threat on his life.
Dhaka eighth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Syeda Hafsa Jhuma passed the order as the accused pleaded not guilty and demanded justice.
The court also set August 9 for start recording deposition of the witnesses.
The court also imposed a bar against the accused for leaving the country without its permission. The order was passed following a plea of Shakib Khan.
The actor filed the case against Rahmat Ullah on March 23. After recording statement of the plaintiff, the court summoned the accused on April 26.
The accused surrendered before the court on that day and pleaded for bail.
Shakib Khan on March 27 filed another case against Rahmat Ullah for making false and derogatory remarks about him on television.
Dhaka cyber tribunal, after recording statement of the plaintiff, asked Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe the allegations and submit its report.
