Ekushey Padak winner prominent actor and film maker Afzal Hossain was admitted at a hospital in the capital on Monday (September 5) night after his physical condition worsened. 

Masum Bashar, closest friend of Afzal confirmed the matter.

He said the actor was admitted to Square Hospital’s Critical Care Unit (CCU) in Capital’s Panthapath. 

“The actor Afzal Hossain was suffering from pneumonia but on Monday night he had a heart attack. However, his condition currently is not well,” said Masum.

Afzal Hossain's acting career started through stage performance at Dhaka Theater while studying fine arts. He is also popular in television and films. He entered the world of television in the late 70’s. He became a popular name in television through dramas in the 80’s.
