DHAKA: Tanjina Toma’s music evening will be organised at the auditorium of the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in city’s Gulshan area.
The soiree, to be organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh, will be held at 6:30pm on January 11.
Tanjina Toma learned Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut in Dhaka.
She was also trained under renowned gurus such as late Wahidul Haque and Dr Sanjida Khatun. She has been teaching Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut for last 10 years.
She is also an active member of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Sammilam Parishad and Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha.
Toma rendered her voice in ‘Valmiki Pratibha’, a joint Bangladesh-India production in 2010, and also in a documentary titled ‘Bangladeshey Rabindranath’, produced on the occasion of Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations. The film was screened in Bangladesh, India, UK and Australia, said the organisers.
Toma has released two solo albums ‘Modhu Jamini’ from Bangladesh in 2011 and ‘Jibon Kotha’ from India last year.
No entry passes needed at the programme and the audience are requested not to bring bags at the programme venue.
