DHAKA: Star Cineplex will screen Hollywood adventure and fantasy movie ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ at its hall at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall in city’s Panthapath area.
The movies will have its Dhaka premiere at 6:30pm on Thursday.
‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’, a 2013 epic fantasy adventure film is the second instalment of a three-part film adaptation based on the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.
Directed by Peter Jackson, the movie was premiered on December 2 in 2013 in Los Angeles. It was released internationally on 11 December.
Like its predecessor, the film used a shooting and projection frame rate of 48 frames per second, which was advertised as ‘High Frame Rate’ to the public, says Wikipedia.
Following the Los Angeles premiere, ‘Metro’ noted that early critical reaction was ‘glowing’, with critics describing it as a ‘spectacle’, while ‘The Guardian’ reported that it was receiving ‘much stronger early reviews’.
After the film’s international release, MTV reported that the film has garnered a ‘positive’ critical reaction, while the ‘Los Angeles Times’ stated the consensus is that the film ‘reinvigorates’ the series, putting it ‘back on course’, Wikipedia adds.
