4-day DU theatre fest begins Tuesday

DHAKA: The Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University will arrange a four-day annual theatre festival at the university’s TSC auditorium.

A total of six plays will be staged in the festival to be begun from February 11.

Vice-chancellor of the university AAMS Arefin Siddique will inaugurate the festival as chief guest at 6:30pm on the day.

The inaugural ceremony will be followed by the show of Munier Choudhury’s ‘Manush’, to be directed by Mahbubur Rahman.

Two plays will be staged on February 12. Edward Elbi’s ‘The Zoo Story’, to be directed by Tahsinur Rahman Talukder, will be staged at 6:30pm while Eugene O’Neil’s ‘Ile’, to be directed by Nusrat Jahan, will be staged at 7:30pm on the day.

WB Yates’ ‘Kathleen Nee Hulian’, to be directed by Catherine Purification, will be staged at 6:30pm and Henry Geon’s ‘Farce of The Devil’s Bridge’, to be directed by Tarik Ibrahim Sajib at 7:30pm on February 13.

Eugene O’Neil’ ‘Desire Under The Elms’, to be directed by Era Ahmed, will be staged at 6:30pm on February 14, concluding day of the ceremony.

According to the organisers, the students of honours final year of theatre department will perform in different roles of the plays.
