Frozen wins best animated film Oscar

DHAKA: Animated film ‘Frozen’ has won the 86th Academy Awards in Animated feature category, defeating a field that included The Croods, Despicable Me 2 and Hayao Miyazaki`s The Wind Rises.

Produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, and based on the Hans Christian Andersen story The Snow Queen, Frozen was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and counts Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel among its voice cast. It has been a worldwide commercial hit, with over $980m (£580m) in global box-office takings – just short of the levels recorded by The Lion King, currently Disney`s most successful animated film, the Guardian reported.

The Academy Awards are taking place at the Dolby theatre in Los Angeles, and are being hosted by Ellen DeGeneres on March 2 (US slandered time).
