Fashion world mourns Scott’s untimely death

DHAKA: Celebrated fashion designer L’Wren Scott was found dead in her apartment on Monday from an apparent suicide.

According to media, the police officers, who were first to arrive on the scene, reported that a woman was found ‘unconscious and unresponsive’ in an apartment building in the upscale Chelsea neighbourhood, reports contactmusic.com.

Fire officials, who responded to the call, reporting a cardiac arrest, said the woman was dead on their arrival. Scott’s assistant was reportedly the first one to find her, hanging on a scarf.

Over the last decade, Scott became one of the most influential New York fashion designers, catering to an aesthetic, which embodied both female power and sensuality.

Her sleek designs were favored by Hollywood actresses like Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz and frequently graced red carpets.

Following her death, Vogue editor Anna Wintour issued a statement on the magazine’s website, saying, ‘L`Wren was a total perfectionist, someone who absolutely embodied everything her marvelous clothes stood for: strength of character combined with a confident and powerful style’.

One of the many people mourning Scott’s untimely death is her boyfriend, Mick Jagger.

The Rolling Stone hasn’t commented, but a publicist for Jagger said a New York Post story about a split between the two ‘is 100 percent untrue’ and ‘a horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick’.
