DHAKA: A 3-day celebration program by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre will be arranged on the occasion of Bangladesh’s 44th Independence Day at IGCC in city’s Gulshan area.
The program featuring cultural events will begin on March 24 and continue till March 26.
The three-day event will begin with poetry recitations at 6:30pm on March 24.
Country’s renowned poets Syed Shamsul Haq, Nirmalendu Goon, Nurul Huda, Rafiq Azad, Habibulla Siraji, Dilara Hafiz and Anwara Syed Haq will participate at the recitation program.
The organisers will arrange a music program with the singers of ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’ at 6:30pm on March 25.
Tapan Mahmud, Shaheen Samad and Timir Nandy of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra will sing at the event.
On the concluding day of the event, March 26, country’s Independence Day, the program will begin at 10:30am and it will continue till 8:00pm.
On the day, the organizers will screen three movies, based on Bangladesh’s war of independence.
‘Ekattorer Jishu’ (Jesus 71), directed by Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, will be screened at 11:30am while Tanvir Mokammel’s ‘Rabeya’ at 3:00pm and ‘Jibondhuli’ at 5:30pm.
No entry passes will be required at the programs but the audience are requested not to carry bags on the IGCC premises during the events.
