DHAKA: A discussion along with slide-show on the artworks of Shahid Kabir was held on the premises of Bengal Shilpalaya in city’s Dhanmondi area.
Eminent educationists and art critics Burhanuddin Khan Jahangir, Nazrul Islam, Shamsul Wares and Mainuddin Khaled attended the program on Saturday evening.
The program featured the display of Shahid Kabir’s popular ‘Lalon Series’ of 1970s and also his other artworks.
The speakers highlighted the importance of Shahid Kabir’s artworks and also presented the artist’s role in Bangladesh art history.
Born in 1949 in Barisal, Shahid Kabir studied at the then Government College of Arts and Crafts, now the fine arts faculty of Dhaka University.
The artist earned the national award in 1975 and 1976 from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He also earned several awards including ‘Carmen Arozamena’ in Spain.
