DHAKA: A soiree of Rabindra Sangeet by Shwapnil Shojib was held at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in city’s Gulshan area on Saturday evening.
The program was organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh.
Born in 1991 at Faridpur, Shojib trained in Rabindra Sangeet under eminent exponents of the genre such as late Wahedul Hoque, Rezwana Chowdhuri Bannya, Lily Islam, Sraboni Sen and Poroma Banerjee.
He also learnt Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and Loghu Shangeet from Ustad Ali Imam Chowdhuri.
Shojib released a cassette ‘Amar Gaan’ in 2002 and three solo music CDs from Bangladesh and from Kolkata’s The Tagore Treasury in India.
He also rendered voice for ‘Shruti Geetobitan and Notun Tara-2 release in 2011’.
The singer participated in Tagore’s dance drama ‘Mayar Khela’.
Shojib won several awards such as the ‘Prothom Maan’ award in 2007, 2009 and 2011, and awards from prominent cultural organizations such as Rabindra Bengal Foundation (Kolkata), Khelaghor and Nirnoy.
Shojib is a regular artist in Bangladesh Television and Betar.
