DHAKA: A soiree of Nazrul songs by one of Bangladesh’s most popular and revered singers Ferdous Ara will be held at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in city’s Gulshan area.
The program, organized by IGCC in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh will begin at 6:30pm on May 17.
According to the organizers, Ferdous Ara is a highly accomplished and versatile Nazrul singer in Bangladesh.
She has represented Bangladesh in several acclaimed performances abroad. She has the distinction of performing at an International Gala concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1986.
She has also visited New Delhi and Kolkata for performances under India’s ICCR sponsorship in January 2011.
The singer has been adorned with several national awards including the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Gold medal.
Ferdous Ara has been a regular artiste of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television since 1973 and 1974 respectively and has earned plaudits for her artistic excellence.
In 1985, Sargam released her first cassette comprising of 12 Nazrul songs, while in 1986 Nazrul Institute brought out her long play and cassette.
Entry for the event is free. Audiences are requested not to bring bags on IGCC premises during the program.
