DHAKA: The Bayaan collective, in partnership with University Press Ltd, has organized a Film Show and Discussion title “Nations & Notions: PARTITION WEEK’ from August 10-14.
The elaborated programmes will be held at several venues in the capital.
On August 10, a discussion titled ‘Identity Formation and Bengali Cinema: Pre and Post 1947’ at Ramesh Chandra Datta Smriti Milan Kendra of Chhayanaut at 7:00pm.
On August 11, film Subarnarekha will be exhibited at Room 7002 of Independent University at 12:00pm.
On the same day, a discussion titled ‘League vs Congress? The Case of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bengal Boundary Commission, 1947’ will be held at 3pm at Bay’s Galleria.
On August 12, another discussion titled “Haunted By History? 1947, 1971 and ‘Stranded’ Pakistanis in Bangladesh” will be held at ESS Student-Teacher Lounge, Room 702, Building 4 of BRAC University at 3:30pm.
A film named Komal Gandhar will be exhibited at Dhaka Art Center at 6:00pm on the same day.
On August 13, ‘Road to 1947 Partition and Intellectual Narratives’, a discussion will be held at Conference Room PRG, NAC 1058, North South University at 11:30am.
Khamosh Paani, a film, will be showed at Room 7002 of Independent University at 12:00pm.
On the last day, August 14, a film named Garam Hawa will be exhibited at 12:00pm at Room 7002 of Independent University at 12:00pm.
And Teaching Partition will be organized at 3:30pm at Conference Room, 13th floor, ENH, BRAC University.
