DHAKA: A music soiree was held at Alliance Française in city’s Dhanmondi area on Tuesday evening.
Ghazal singer Manzurul Islam Khan presented songs based on Hindustani classical music at the event.
Eminent poet Asad Chowdhury was present as chief guest while lyricist Shahidullah Farayzi as special guest and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Golam Kuddus as guest of honour.
Manzurul Islam Khan enthralled the audience by rendering ghazals as well as songs based on classical ragas.
He learnt music from eminent ustads including Azad Rahman, Sanjeeb Dey, Aminul Haque, Amzad Rahman and Osman Khan, among others, at home and Sanjay Chakrabarti of India.
The singer had his training on classical music from Chhayanaut Sangeet Bidyayatan and masters in music from Mumbai University of India.
However, Manzurul Islam has been presenting ghazal regularly in Bangladesh and India from 1994.
