DHAKA: A Bangladesh Festival will be arranged in Russia in September aimed at displaying Bangladeshi culture including music, dance and painting.
The decision has been taken at a meeting, chaired by Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, held at secretariat on Sunday.
Cultural Minister Public Relations Molla Ahma Kutubuddin informed banglanews that as per preliminary decision, Bangladesh Cultural Day-2015 will be held in September at Moscow and Kazan cities of Russia.
Bangladeshi culture, music, painting and theatre performance will be displayed in the event.
According to Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bangladesh and Russia, on January 15 in 2013, ‘Russian Cultural Day’ was held in Dhaka in 2014 and Bangladesh Cultural Day in Russia in 2015.
Under the MoU, a 51-member Russian Cultural delegation visited Bangladesh and presented their performances in Dhaka and Chittagong.
The minister said: “Bangladesh has excellent bilateral relations with the tested friend Russia. To strengthen the relations between the two countries, cultural exchange programs are going on. Bangladesh’s rich culture will be introduced to the people of Russia through this event.”
Russian ambassador in Bangladesh A Nikolaev said, “Russia has a very close relations with the country in exchanging cultural aspects.'Russian Cultural Day' has been made the Russian cultures available to the people Bangladesh. Russia will also provide all-out cooperation in the ‘Bangladesh Cultural Day’ event.”
Cultural Ministry secretary Dr Ronjit Kumar Biswas, Additional Secretary Mahbuba Mashkur, director general of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) Faizul Latif Chowdhury, director general (DG) of the Department of Archaeology Shirin Akter, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liakat Ali Lucky, Director General of the Public Library Directorate M Hafizur Rahman, were, concerned officers present at the meeting.
