DHAKA: Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) will organize a music evening by Nirjher Chowdhury at its auditorium in city’s Gulshan area.
The soiree will begin at 6:30pm on May 8.
The High Commission of India issued a press release about the soiree.
Nirjher Chowdhury is a promising young singer, who has achieved two national awards in music, one in Rabindra Sangeet and one in classical music.
Having completed eight-year course in Rabindra Sangeet from Chhayanaut Sangeet Biddayaton, Chowdhury has released 25 albums (solo and mixed).
Nirjher Chowdhury is also a well-reputed music director composing playbacks for ‘Mayar Khela’, ‘Champabati’, ‘Fireflies’, ‘Chobiwala’ etc.
Recently Bengal Music released his solo album ‘Hridaye Robi’. He has performed in different countries such as India, USA, Thailand and Bhutan.
Currently he is teaching classical music and Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut Sangeet Biddayaton, Sarva Sree Foundation and Shadhona. He is a member of fusion band group DHAROK.
Chowdhury is the first Bangladeshi who performed South Indian Classical Carnatic music on stage in Bangladesh. He achieved ‘Sangeetha Sarasa’ and ‘Sangeetha Koumudi’ title in Carnatic music from Sarva Sree foundation.
No pass is required to enjoy the show while no bags will be allowed within the IGCC premises during the concert, the release added.
