DHAKA: The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is set to organise a Musical Evening of Rabindra Sangeet by “Shurer Dhara” at the center’s auditorium at Gulshan-1 in at 6:30 pm on Saturday (May 9).
The High Commission of India informed the matter through a press release in the afternoon.
Shurer Dhara, a prominent musical institution of Dhaka, was founded in 1992 by Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, who is a distinguished alumna of Viswa-Bharati, (the renowned university founded by Rabindranath Tagore) and a professor of Music at the University of Dhaka and an accomplished exponent of Rabindra Sangeet.
Within a few years of its founding, Shurer Dhara was able to establish itself as a premier music school and a cultural centre of Dhaka.
The aim of Shurer Dhara is furthering the spread of Rabindranath Tagore’s great ideals of love, peace and human values. Guided by his thoughts and their application they try to nurture young minds to attain these values.
No pass is required to enjoy the show. However, no bags will be allowed within the IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, premises during the concert.
