DHAKA: Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor called for the dissemination of the works of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

He made the call while placing wreath on the grave of the national poet on his 116th birth anniversary on Monday morning.

Terming Nazrul a bright star in Bangla language and literature, the cultural minister said all branches of Bangla literature had been enriched with the works of the poet.

He also said the spirit, philosophy and unique literary works of Nazrul should be disseminated among the younger generation.

According to the minister, his incumbent government has been supporting for new researches on Nazrul as well as disseminating them across the world.

‘Narzul’s literary works provide us the spirit of non-communal and humanitarian ideology in fighting communalism,’ he added.

Cultural ministry additional secretary Mahbuba Mashkur, National Museum director general Fayzul Latif Chowdhury, Archeology Department director general Shirin Aktar, Archives and Library Department director Wadudul Bari Chowdhury, among others, were present at the event.
