Dr Enamul Huq made goodwill envoy for child workers

DHAKA: Eminent theatre personality Dr Enamul Huq has been made a goodwill ambassador for child workers.

Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) and World Vision made him the envoy.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Monday.

Dr Enamul Huq and CSID executive director signed the MoU.

According to the organizers, 7.4 million children are involved in economic activities. Among them, 3.2 million are minor and 1.3 million are in hazardous jobs.

Moreover, 17.4 percent of the working children live in Dhaka city.

The organizers further said that Dr Enamul Huq will participate in programs on child labor, special days and weeks. His image and messages will also be used in posters, stickers, leaflets, billboards and booklets.

Expressing his eagerness to work for children, Enamul Huq said that people should uphold the values of humanity.

‘I will do my best for the development of child workers,’ the artiste added.
