DHAKA: A cultural organization, Banglar Mukh (Face of Bangla), will organize a three-day folk festival to celebrate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s achieving of ‘Champions of the Earth’ award.
The three-day cultural programs will begin on Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises in city on October 22.
Finance minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the program on the day. It will continue from 11:00am to 9:00pm everyday.
Banglar Mukh organized a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in city’s Segun Bagicha area on Monday.
Organization president Saiful Azam Bashar and general secretary Sanjib Das Apu, among others, were present at the conference.
However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina achieved the ‘Champion of the Earth’ prize, the highest environmental accolade that the United Nations (UN) confers upon outstanding individuals and organizations, for the “leadership and vision in both making climate change an issue of national priority and advocating for an ambitious global response”.
Sheikh Hasina received the award from United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) executive director Achim Steiner on September 27.
