DHAKA: The free registration for enjoying the five-day long Bengal Classical Music Festival 2015, world's largest classical music festival, has begun on Friday.
The festival will be started from November 27 at Dhaka Army Stadium.
This year the event is dedicated to artist Qayyum Choudhury who was fell sick during the program last year and later died. The show is presented by Square, supported by BRAC Bank and powered by Robi Axiata.
Interested persons can register their name filling up a form from website www.bengalfoundation.org. Later an e-ticket will be sent through email which will be checked at the entry gate.
Mobile registration is also possible through SMS where the persons have to write ‘Bengal’ in their message option and sent it to 6969. The registration will only charge the SMS rate.
Including the two processes, direct registration can be done at Dhanmondi’s Bengal Shilpaloy from 11:00am to 7:00pm and at Banani’s Ataturk Avenue’s Lucknow from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. The seat is limited and there will be no registration counter Dhaka Army Stadium entrance.
The most attractive presentation of the event are famous drummer Ustad Zakir Hussain, flute artist Jayaprada Ramamurthy, famous singer from Karnataka Padmabhushan Balamuralikrishna, who is the senior most artist of this year, will be accompanied by flute artist Ronu Majumder, who was nominated for Grammy award. Oscar nominated artist Bombay Jayashri will also come this year.
The performers are including Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Guru Karaikudi Mani, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Shujaat Khan, N Rajam, Vidushi Shubha Mudgal, Vidwan Radha and Raja Reddy and Vidushi Alarmel Valli.
The youngest artist Fahmida Naznin and Mohammad Bhuban will join in Drum with Bengal Parampara Sangitalaya and child artist Supantha Majumder and Pancham Sanyal will also join the chorus.
From Bangladesh, eight members, led by Dr Asit Roy, of Rajshahi University Music Department will present a chorus and 22 dancers, led by dancer Minu Billah, will take part in the inauguration program.
