DHAKA: Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) will organize an evening of Recitation by Dahlia Ahmed at 6pm Saturday at the IGCC office in Gulshan-1 of the capital.
A leading recitation artiste and elocutionist of Bangladesh, Dahlia Ahmed was born in 1961 at Mymensingh to an esteemed Muktijoddha family.
A brilliant student, she grew up in the strict disciplinary ambience of Bharateswari Homes - a renowned residential school for girls in Bangladesh reputed for excellence in academic & cultural activities. She later graduated in English from Dhaka University.
Ms Ahmed has an ardent passion for languages, particularly phonetics and pronunciation. She has participated in several national programmes held on the occasions of International Mother Language Day, Independence Day and Victory Day.
She has also given background voice to many stage shows, dance dramas, documentaries and live commentaries. Ms. Ahmed has recited poetry and dance dramas all over Bangladesh and abroad in cities such as New York, London and Paris.
Dahlia Ahmed was also the anchor during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address in Dhaka at BICC on 7 June, 2015. She is a recipient of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Award for recitation in 2010.
